Seniorsfirst Arts & Musicfest at Valley Manor
Annual East Ave Festival Adds Visual Arts to the Roster
Rochester, NY - Valley Manor, Rochester’s premier senior apartment community, invites music and art lovers of all ages to attend its annual Seniorsfirst Arts and Musicfest at 1570 East Avenue, July 20 - 22 from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. each day.
This year, Valley Manor is pleased to present Johnny Matt and his Big Band on Tuesday, July 20, the Chamber Ensemble Air de Cour on July 21, and Poppa Joe’s Crawfish Stew Dixieland Band on Thursday, July 22.
In addition, this year launches a collaboration with ARTISANworks to introduce visual arts into the annual festival. Each day, April Stein, an artist-in-residence with ARTISANworks, will be painting a signature piece throughout the three days and be available to meet and greet the festival attendees.
“Seniorsfirst is very pleased to bring in ARTISANworks as a partner and expand our event into an arts and music festival, “ says Vice President of Marketing Jim Payne. “It is very gratifying to watch the expansion of our festival over the years, as we develop an interactive summer event that embraces the cultural interests of the senior community.”
ARTISANworks, a not-for-profit corporation, bills itself as a 21st Century “art space” that showcases American Art to the masses. Primarily self-funded through memberships and events hosted at its Blossom Road location, ARTISANworks supports developing artists and brings interactive art experiences to the community.
This festival’s featured artist, April Laragy Stein, is one of Upstate New York’s favorite artists. Influenced by Chagall, Matisse and early Kadinsky, April’s watercolor, gouache and acrylic paintings are compelling and rich with fantasy. The resulting work from this year’s Arts & Musicfest will be showcased at a future ARTISANworks and Seniorsfirst event.
Concert seating during the festival is available under a large tent over the west parking lot. Additional seating at tables will be provided, and modestly priced picnic lunch foods will be sold on-site. The event is held rain or shine, and is free and open to the public. Parking is permitted along East Avenue all three days during the Musicfest.
